Prisoner B-3087 Review
This book follows the story of young Yanek Gruener's life in World War 2. It describes in depth what life was like for Jewish children, and having their cities in full Nazi control. This story is very humbling, while also teaching readers to never give up and never surrender. Enjoy this review!
Title: Prisoner B-3087 by: Alan Gratz
Summary: 10 year old Yanek Gruener's home town of Krakow is invaded by the Nazi army. Because Yanek's family is Jewish, they are targeted by Nazi soldiers. Yanek is taken away to a concentration camp, where he is put to work, not fed good food, and sleeps on an uncomfortable straw mattress. He encounters much evil, but fights through it. He is sent to 10 separate camps, each one worse than the last. But no matter where he goes, Yanek has no name, only the number tattooed on his arm: B-3087...
Favorite Part: Although this book is very sad in various parts, my favorite part was when Yanek carried a fellow prisoner along as they march, as he suffers from dehydration and insomnia.
Genre: The genre of this book is Historical Fiction. This is the genre because the events that occur really happened in history, but the characters are fictional.
Rating: Characters, 5/5- Plot, 5/5- Humor,0/5, Overall, 5/5
Recommendation: I would recommend this book to anyone interested in this particular historical event, or to anyone who enjoys humbling stories.
Thank you for reading this review! I hope you enjoyed it!
